The Assumption Parish Government is operated under a Police Jury system of elected police jurors from the nine wards of the Parish. The Police Jury is responsible for the formation of ordinances and for the general administration and operation of the parish.
Supporting the Police Jury are independent agencies including the Assessor, Clerk of Court, Sheriff, and District Attorney .
