Anthony “Tony” Falterman is the District Attorney of the 23rd Judicial District representing Assumption Parish. He attended Nicholls State University from 1964-1967 with various majors. He continued his education by attending LSU Law School in 1967 and graduated in 1970. Mr. Falterman opened his private practice in 1970 and continued practicing law until he was elected Sheriff of Assumption Parish in 1975. At that time, Sheriff Falterman was the youngest elected Sheriff in Louisiana history. In 1983, Sheriff Falterman was the 1st and only Sheriff in Assumption Parish history to be elected without opposition. In November of 1990, Sheriff Falterman was elected District Attorney of the 23rd Judicial District representing Assumption, Ascension, and St. James Parishes. He was re-elected to office in 1996 without opposition. D.A. Falterman is past President and Board Member of the Louisiana District Attorney's Association since 1992. He presently serves as member of the Louisiana Commission on Law Enforcement, member of Peace Officer’s Standards and Training Council, Governor’s Drug Policy Board, member of the Louisiana Judicial Council, and the Judicial Funding Commission. D.A. Falterman is married to Jennifer Dolese and they reside in Napoleonville.
